Doctors Clark and Lester Family Dentistry is a complete dental care provider. We offer everything from general bi-annual check-ups to more advanced cosmetic dentistry. Our dental services include:
- Tooth-Colored Fillings – Forget about dark metal fillings. Our tooth-colored fillings are completely indistinguishable from the rest of your teeth. They are also more conservative than traditional metal fillings.
- Crowns – Crowns are restorations that completely cover the part of the tooth that is visible above the gumline. They are indicated for teeth that have large areas of decay, previous root canal treatment, or cracked tooth structure. Crowns can also be used for cosmetic correction of unsightly teeth. These restorations have good long-term success, and can be made from porcelain, metal, or a combination of the two materials.
- Veneers – Veneers are a popular way to cosmetically treat teeth that are discolored, crooked, chipped, or misshapen. They are made of thin layers of porcelain or composite that cover the facings of the teeth. Veneers require less tooth preparation than crowns, and usually require two visits to the dental office. They can also be used in combination with full crowns and bridges to completely restore a person's smile.
- Bridges – A bridge is a series of crowns that are connected together and cemented in the mouth to replace an area of a missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. The natural teeth around the space are used as "anchor" teeth, and are prepared so that the bridge can be cemented to them. One advantage of a bridge is that it is not removed at night by the patient, unlike dentures and partials.
- Partials and Dentures – These are removable prostheses used to replace missing teeth. They are an affordable and conservative method for replacing large areas of missing teeth.
- Implants – Dental implants are artificial tooth replacements that are placed below the gumline, and are usually made of titanium. Implants can be restored with crowns to look and function like a natural tooth. These restorations can be used for one missing tooth or for a full mouth of missing teeth, and they have a great success rate.
- Fresh Breath Treatment – Gain self-confidence with our special bad breath (halitosis) treatment. Most over-the-counter breath products only temporarily hide bad breath. Our office can help diagnose the numerous causes of bad breath and provide methods to eliminate bad breath if there is a dental cause. We also offer a halimeter test, which is a highly accurate test for recording the amount of volatile sulfur compounds in the mouth. These sulfur compounds are the main cause of chronic bad breath. Two of the solutions include preventing the formation of these sulfur compounds, and neutralizing the compounds after they form. We provide specific alcohol-free medicated rinses to eliminate the cause of chronic bad breath.
- Root Canals – Root canal treatment can be used to save infected teeth that might otherwise have to be removed from the mouth. This treatment gets rid of infection inside a tooth's nerve that is caused by deep tooth decay or trauma. After root canal therapy, some teeth require restoration with a crown.
- Periodontal Therapy – Periodontal, or gum therapy, is provided to treat gum disease that can lead to swollen and discolored gum tissue, sensitive gum recession, and in severe cases, the loss of teeth. Periodontal disease has also been scientifically linked to heart disease, strokes, and premature births. Gum health is a very important part of a person's overall health and beautiful smile. We recommend regular office visits every 6 months to maintain health, and more often if severe gum disease is present.
Our office is convenient to Birmingham, Inverness, Vestavia, Hoover, Mountain Brook, and Cahaba Heights. Contact us today to schedule an appointment!
